I did promise this months blog post would be the Before and Afters of our modern farmhouse renovation, but something more important to share has come up. Yep, my favourite architect in the entire world has newly completed work and I’m literally bursting at the seams to share because truly, his work is beyond exceptional.
As many of you know, I’ve been a huge admirer of Christian Anderson’s work (see previous post here) but his most recent body of works (yes works!) are jaw droppingly beautiful!
All three properties below are located in magnificent New Zealand. The first property below is located on the headland in Owhanake Bay on Waiheke Island.
This property is EXACTLY what I want our next home to look like here in the Highlands, especially as the timber ages and goes a beautiful silvery grey.
It’s raw and earthy but still refined and elegant, with a real farmhouse feel to it (despite overlooking the water).
The amount of detail in the homes that Christian designs is quite extraordinary. They feel restrained and unpretentious, but I can see every little bit of architectural detail that would have take an enormous of time and thought to design and detail for construction.
I know someone (you know who you are…. Ali!) who would go nuts for these beautiful barn doors.
I don’t know about you but I totally see myself curled up on those gorgeous sofas, in front of the fire with a glass of pinot and overlooking that unbelievable view!
The second property below is basically what I imagine our future dream beach house will look like.
Yep, still obsessed with antlers! In fact an antler chandelier just like this one above is going to be hung in the new Cottonwood Design Studio in the next month or so (another post on THAT soon!)
Love the v-groove island cabinetry in the kitchen – gives it a very coastal feel.
How gorgeous are those white lamps??! They look like either sea urchins or stones.
That standing seam roof makes me weak at the knees. It probably did to the owners too once they saw the bill! Notoriously expensive but oh so beautiful.
The last property is located on the Coromandel which is one of my favourite parts of New Zealand. Coastal heaven in other words! My husband and I stayed in the Coromandel for a few days right after we got engaged, so it has amazing memories for us (including the 5am walk through dark scrub down to the beach so we could take sunrise pics at Cathedral Cove – kinda scary walking through scrub when it’s pitch black!!)
This home definitely has an ‘East Coast American vibe’ about it and reminds me of the types of homes you’d expect to see in Nantucket, Cape Cod and Long Island. For me it’s The Hamptons meets New Zealand. THE BEST COMBINATION EVER!
Can you imagine yourself in any of these homes?
Hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
