Every now and then I inadvertently stumble upon a room that I find completely faultless. One that I just wish I could pick up off the page and drop straight into our own home! My idea of the perfect space.
Well this happened a few weeks ago when I came across a kitchen that a friend had pinned to one of her Pinterest boards.
I investigated a little further after the kitchen designer herself, Miriam of Minnie Peters, made a note on the pin and I soon came across the beautiful hand crafted work of Andrew Ryan (and Minnie Peters!)
I am particularly enamoured with this coastal kitchen, even though for me, this kitchen is so universal it fits perfectly into my idea of a Belgian or Scandinavian farmhouse.
The combinations of weathered oak island counter, grey stone perimeter counter, lime washed flooring, antique brass pendant lights and hardware together with the hand painted off-white cabinetry is a match made in heaven to me.
I also love this country farmhouse kitchen below by Andrew Ryan, particularly that beautiful custom-made, hand painted cabinetry in soft grey. Imagine how organised you could be with storage like this!?
And let it be known I am desperate for an AGA. They instantly say “country kitchen” to me.
Even though I definitely lean towards more classic and traditional style kitchens, I do also love a contemporary kitchen when it references traditional kitchen designs, like this stunning contemporary kitchen below by Andrew Ryan.
The simple combination of textured oak panelling, substantial marble counters, a soft muted palette with just a touch of black for some contrast, creates a truly elegant, warm and refined looking space. Simplicity at it’s best.
