Given summer is technically over, I thought I’d share a bit of an update on our sweet little kitchen garden which we planted at the start of spring 2017.
We’ve been having unseasonably warm weather of late so the garden is showing little signs of slowing down and it is looking so pretty! It’s also continuing to bring so much joy to our family.

I love nothing more than heading out into the garden at sunset to grab herbs or greens for each nights dinner. Or just to nip out to grab a bunch of flowers for a vase beside the sink.
The dahlias have been absolutely amazing and flowered non-stop the entire spring and summer!!!
This whole experience really has me excited to do this again, but on a much bigger scale at our next house. Including a greenhouse so we can grow things longer and rely a little more on our own homegrown produce rather than shop bought/mass produced.
I will also say we don’t use any pesticides or chemicals in the kitchen garden – just natural garlic spray and “companion planting” was all we used, even though I didn’t set out to plant any specific flowers. I just planted want I liked and wanted to grow, and hoped for the best! I can definitely say we have had very little bug invasions or issues this time around, so it seems to have worked!
