There is something intensely appealing to me about Scandinavian interiors and design and below is the perfect example of why. Scandinavian interiors are uncluttered, functional and elegant, often favouring a colour foundation of white (or variations of white) with timber flooring in either a light stain or painted white. A fireplace in the corner of the room and a subtle palette of grey, beige & white, with accents of black and lots of natural wood, also feature heavily in Scandinavian homes and interiors. Every now and then, you may even see a splash of vibrant colour contrasting against a predominantly white interior canvas.
A company that exudes this exact brand of Scandinavian design, and one that is very much in line with the Cottonwood style principles and philosophy, is that of Norwegian furniture maker, Slettvoll. Adored by many Scandinavians for it’s muted and luxuriously natural fabrics and upholstery, combined with simplistic, streamlined furniture and natural wood, it is Scandinavian style at it’s absolute best. It’s a look that transcends and can be effortlessly combined with many other decorating styles. It’s also a design style I identify with personally (given my love of white, beige and grey).
