Last year, I had the pleasure of being a lunch guest at the newly opened luxury Bed & Breakfast property, Terragong, in Jamberoo, on the New South Wales South Coast and it sure wasn’t what I was expecting, at all!
Terragong, circa 1858, has been given quite the makeover by its new owners, renowned Australian Interior Designer, Darryl Gordon, and his partner, hotel exec, Simon Milner, who have painstakingly restored and upgraded this magnificent Georgian Colonial property to its former glory days, with some impressive new architectural additions!
Excuse the grainy photos but I didn’t have my tripod with me and of course it was a dark and rainy day!
What I didn’t expect about Terragong, was the impressive new board and batten architectural addition to the rear of the property, which is where Belgian farmhouse meets American barn, and so beautifully melds the new with the old.
The kitchen is impressive in it’s own right and dominates the new farmhouse addition with it’s scale, thoughtful details and sheer beauty.
Terragong appeals to those who love tradition and history, but equally so for those who favour transitional design and more modern sensibilities. Three guest suites, a grand drawing room to curl up with a G&T by the fire, a magnificent dining room – where I have no doubt many interesting evenings have been, and will be, had by guests and friends of Darryl and Simon – plus beautiful country grounds, including a fabulous pool, overlooking rolling hills, for the warmer months.
Three distinct luxury suites, all with chic new ensuites, are the ideal place to rest, relax and unwind.
Since my visit last year, I’m aware they’re done some further works (wallpapered some rooms, additional landscaping etc) so I’m very much looking forward to going back and hopefully having a romantic weekend with the hubby!
